The RGSA Annual General Meeting for 2007 will be held Tuesday, April 29th. at 8.00 pm in Council Chambers at Richmond City Hall.

The 2007-8 Directors' Reports, financial statements and the preliminary budget for 2008-9 will be available at the AGM and posted later on the web site

John Gattens - Awarded Life Time Membership

RGSA Board of Directors nominated and awarded John Gattens for his long time distinguished commitment and dedication to the club and it's teams. John was awarded his life time membership plaque at the RGSA AGM. Over the years, John has tirelessly brought sponsorship to the RGSA and RYSA tournaments; coached successfully girl's and women's teams; plus much more. Presently, John continues his coaching with the club with the very successful U21 Pilots in the club's Women's Program (see article below on Women's Program expanded and successful!! )

The U18 Gold Ground Attack was presented the award by the RGSA board at the RGSA AGM

Richmond U18 Gold Ground Attack are off to the BCSA Provincial B Cup for the 3rd year in a row!!! I think it's called 3peat!!!

Coquitlam, BC - North Shore Impact 2 - Richmond Ground Attack 1 - On April 6th, 2008 at Coquitlam Town Center, the U18 Gold Richmond Ground Attack were runner ups to their nemesis NSGSC Impact in the Coastal Cup Area Championships. By being Silver Medallists they also qualify for the Provincial Championship in Trail July, July 3-6th.

Women's Program expanded and successful!!

In it's 2nd year the RGSA MWSL Women's Program was not only expanded to 3 teams but proved successful on all fronts. The Aviators in Div 3 and Pilots in U21 finished in the top 3 of their League. These teams along with the Flame Div 4, all made it into their MWSL Championship Groups with the Pilots making it to the Finals.

PCSL U21/Women’s Reserve Team Player Pool Registration

PCSL U21/Women’s Reserve Team player assessments and practices are on-going starting April 22nd. The first game is May 10 against the Victoria Stars with league play going from May to cup play at the end of July.

2008 BC Summer Games Tryouts

The 2008 BC Summer Games are scheduled to take place July 24 – 27 in Kelowna. At these games, the sport of soccer is open to girls born in 1996 and is being presented as a showcase event for the Provincial Sports Model and the British Columbia Soccer Association U12 small-sided game Super 8’s soccer program.

Beijing Bound: Canada qualifies for the Olympics
 
Believe it: Canada is Beijing bound after a 1:0 victory over México in the CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualification Tournament in Ciudad Juarez. The Canucks won the 9 April semi-final to qualify for the Summer Olympics.

RGSA Teams place 7 players on BCSA Provincial Team

RGSA is please to acknowledge the selection by BCSA of 7 RGSA  players to BCSA Provincial Teams.

U13 Provincial Team - Alyssa Graeme, Amrit Berar, Natalie Long, Natasha Magnus, Niki Glavina and Summer Clarke.

U15 Provincial Team - Sydney "Syd" Morrison for the 2nd season for BCSA. Syd is also in the National Training Center West Player Pool for potential National Team selection.

Congratulations to all of them their families, team and their supporters that have enabled them to reach the BCSA Provincial team to represent RGSA.

Clive Clarke Coach of U13 Gold Selects said "Richmond Girls can be really proud of these girls.  I don't know that Richmond girls have ever comprised 1/3 of a BC Team before."

Glasgow Rangers are Coming

Glasgow Rangers Soccer School will coming to Richmond to provide training to our players during the week of August 18, 2008. The 5 day program will be open to both girls and boys and will be located at Boyd. The approximate cost of the 5 day program will be $280.
